Business tune-up service
A one-off session to help you organise and modernise how things run -
from paperwork and workflows to finances, software, websites and branding.
Many small businesses run on a mix of paper, spreadsheets and ad-hoc systems, often with no clear future, target audience or vision.
I offer a one-off session to help you organise everything - digitising paperwork, improving workflows, setting up proper accounting tools, and advising on your website and branding.
Tune-up
I will help you address the areas where you should be putting more effort which will get you more clients or profit.
Trim down
At the same time, I'll check out all the areas where you could cut down, whether it's marketing, staff, software & more.
&
This service is ideal for sole traders & small businesses in the following areas:

Beauty salons

Hair Salons

Trades

Construction

Pre-schools

Hotels & food
Paper to Digital
I can help digitise and organise the way your business runs, turning paperwork and manual processes into simple digital workflows, suggesting tools specific to your trade.
Accounting, finance & cashflow
I can review your outgoings from a top-level point of view and help you cut out the fat, making you more profit. If you're working on old systems, I'll advise on some new software.
Marketing & social media
I will do a full review of your marketing and check you're correctly using all of the relevant social media platforms, review systems and other tools for your industry.
Written content & tone
I'll review the content on your website, social platforms and how you reach out to your customers, checking this aligns with your target audience and isn't losing you work.
Workflow improvement/clean-up
I will assess the way you go from customer enquiry to completion, and advise on how you can shorten processes, make things more organised, and ultimately take on more work.
Website & Branding
As you can see, websites are where we started. I will assess your current website and branding and check it aligns with your target audience and vision. I can quote for a new one if necessary.
Nailing down your target audience
All this will only work if you know exactly who your ideal customer is. If you're not sure, I'll help you nail down who it is which will be essential for all your future marketing.
Welcome to peace of mind
By the end of the session you will have a clearer idea of what to do next, what you no longer need, and feel more motivated to push forward with your new vision.
How it works
We'll get to know each other by email and check if I'm right for you, then I'll send an invoice for 50% of the amount.
We'll organise a date for me to visit you or conduct the session over a Zoom call. I will do lots of research beforehand.
On the day of the session I will spend 4 hours with you going through my thoughts, answering your questions, and helping you move forwards.
After the session I will send you some notes and a checklist of my recommendations.
Sessions are available both in-person or over zoom/phone call, or if you prefer to do the whole thing by email without a visit or a call, I will ask more initial questions and spend the time creating you a full pack of advice and recommendations (this option comes with a discount - details below in FAQ).
Get started
Let's get started with boosting your business and trimming back the fat.
"Everything changed after Kat came in to see us. We felt like we'd reset and remembered the reason we started the business, peeling back layers of unnecessary payments, software and admin time. We now have a clear path forward which the whole team agree with and all feel more motivated. Thanks Kat for asking the right questions and helping us tidy up."

About me
Hi! I'm Kat. I've been running my own business since I turned 18, working for clients all over St Neots, Cambridgeshire and further afield. Most of these have been through my web design business but I've also worked in consultancy roles overhauling marketing, branding and workflows, often designing entirely new systems from scratch. I love helping small business re-assess what they're doing well and what they could improve. Sometimes a well-qualified, external pair of eyes is all you need. No jargon, no fake stuff, just real advice that you can take forwards that will actually help.

FAQs
Am I the right kind of business for this service?
If you are a sole-trader or a small business, usually with up to 6 employees, we can work with you.
If you feel you are getting stressed, confused, or at least think you have room for improvement in at least a few of the following areas, then you are right for this service:
Most heavily addressed areas: marketing, branding, websites, working out ideal target audience, workflow, digitisation of paperwork, working out how to get clients, knowing what online tools to use.
Examples of areas more broadly addressed from a top level POV: improving cashflow and modernising your accounting, pricing yourself correctly, managing your business from a sole trader vs Ltd business point of view.
When you make your initial enquiry I will be honest about whether or not I feel this service is right for you.
Are there limitations in who can use this service?
I would not be able to advise on very complex set ups from a finance/accounting POV, although I can still help with marketing and workflow.
How much does it cost?
This service is a one-off fee of £400 which includes the initial conversations, research, session and post-session notes. A discount to £350 applies if you already have services with us.
Can we just work by email instead?
Yes, if you would prefer not to have the 4 hour session but still want my recommendations, I will spend the time writing my thoughts and advice down in a document instead. This option is £250 (or £200 if you already have services with us).
What actual deliverables can I expect?
Physically, you get 4 hours of my time on the day, and I will create you a document to recap our conversations and ideas so you can implement them going forwards. This service is more about the time we spend together, with the value of having a third party look over all of your systems, software, marketing and potentially spending to streamline your business - cutting out the fat and showing you which areas to put more effort/money into.
Which areas do you work in?
If you are local to the St Neots or Cambridge areas, which is at my discretion, this can be conducted in person with a choice of Zoom calls. If you are outside of this radius I may offer a Zoom call if I feel it will work between us. If not, I will be honest about the fact I cannot offer you this service full stop.
Is this service cancellable/refundable?
Yes, before the session takes place you can cancel anytime. Once we've agreed to go ahead and are setting a date, I will send an invoice for 50% of the amount which covers the research I will do before the session. Once this invoice is paid it is not refundable, but if you cancel the session then you will not be charged the final 50%. You can cancel anytime up to 2 hours before the session is due to start.
Do you charge mileage?
Depending on the distance and routes available, I may request a mileage charge. This will be discussed with you before you commit.
Will you implement any of the changes you suggest?
Generally this is consultancy only. I may do some small bits for you on the day, for example helping you become a manager of your Google Business page, but any further work would be quoted for (if within my remit) or I would recommend local companies.
